Who should take this course?
If you've ever wished that HPLC method development were more logical and methodical, this is the course for you. Attendees should have at least one year of HPLC experience in the laboratory and at least some involvement in developing new methods or troubleshooting older ones. This course is for chromatographers who want to develop better methods faster and less expensively.

What does it cover?
In this two-day workshop, you will learn a powerful new approach to systematic method development. Learn the modern approach to method development:

•
Define your objectives clearly in chromatographic terms
• Identify the key variables that affect retention, selectivity, and efficiency
• Select initial conditions that maximize the chances of quickly developing a workable method
• Set up a systematic strategy for efficiently evaluating the effects of the key variables
• Take advantage of recent improvements in column technology
• Learn to develop robust methods that have superior separation repeatability
• Design system suitability checks and validation into your method
• Understand the factors that control precision, accuracy, and robustness.

This course makes extensive use of chromatography simulation software as a teaching tool. Course attendees work in teams to develop methods using the principles discussed during the lectures. You get to apply your new knowledge to your own and other students' actual data during in-class problem-solving sessions. The principles used in computer modeling are fully applicable to separations in your lab. You will learn how to do the best possible chromatography. Save hours of frustration and improve your results time after time.

About the Instructor
Dr John Dolan has published over 100 scientific articles with emphasis on method development techniques, gradient elution, and column selectivity. He is the author (with Lloyd Snyder) of three books, Troubleshooting LC Systems, High-Performance Gradient Elution, and the 3rd edition of Introduction to Modern Liquid Chromatography (also with Jack Kirkland) – often referred to as the Bible of HPLC.
