Analytica 2026 Highlights Instrumentation Advances Across the Lab

At analytica 2026, the scale of the event matched the industry’s appetite for innovation. Held in Munich from March 24–27, the show brought together 1,135 exhibitors from 40 countries and drew around 35,000 visitors from 115 countries. Across the exhibition floor and conference program, the strongest themes were automation, digitalization, sustainability, and the growing role of AI in laboratory workflows. Against that backdrop, exhibitors used the event to showcase new instruments, platforms, and software designed to help labs work faster, manage complexity, and improve efficiency across analytical, biotechnology, and laboratory settings.

For analytical scientists, product launches pointed in a familiar direction: faster analysis, simpler operation, broader flexibility, and tools designed to make advanced measurement more practical in routine laboratory settings. Across elemental analysis, gas chromatography, wet chemistry, water testing, spectroscopy, particle characterization, and stability testing, vendors framed their newest systems around throughput, reliability, and workflow control.

PerkinElmer

PerkinElmer stood out with a cluster of launches tied closely to core analytical workflows. The company introduced the Avio 3000 ICP-OES as a top-tier true simultaneous ICP-OES system aimed at laboratories working under throughput and cost pressure. PerkinElmer said the platform combines high-speed analysis with data consistency for regulatory-driven environments, while its HeliPlate plasma technology cuts argon consumption by up to 50% versus traditional helical coil systems. The company also highlighted chiller-free operation as a way to reduce electricity use, heat, noise, maintenance, and lab footprint.

Alongside that launch, PerkinElmer promoted the Clarus Nova GC as a re-engineered gas chromatography platform intended to expand analytical capability and increase productivity, and introduced the Spotlight Aurora-I FTIR microscope for adaptive IR imaging and faster chemical mapping workflows.

KPM Analytics

KPM Analytics used analytica 2026 to emphasize throughput in wet chemistry and nutrient analysis. Its updated NexaFlo continuous flow analyzer adds enhanced seawater nutrient analysis capability, with the company pointing to improved sensitivity and greater analytical flexibility for marine laboratories. KPM also highlighted the SmartChem 800 Series, which it describes as a next-generation high-throughput wet chemistry platform and the industry’s highest-capacity discrete analyzer, built to support true walk-away automation in commercial laboratories facing heavier sample loads and limited staffing.

Together, the two releases speak to a broader demand for systems that keep pace with rising testing volume while reducing manual intervention.

Xylem

Xylem’s YSI-branded launches focused on applied water and multiparameter analysis. The YSI THM 1000 Selective VOC Analyzer targets on-site trihalomethane analysis in drinking water facilities, delivering results in 30 minutes and aiming to reduce the time and cost tied to off-site laboratory testing. Xylem also promoted the MultiLab Pro IDS, which supports simultaneous measurement of up to four parameters, including pH, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, and ORP.

The company positions the system for complex laboratory environments where precise, reliable multiparameter data are needed, including pharmaceutical and food analysis.

CTC Analytics

CTC Analytics took a workflow-focused approach with two launches aimed at day-to-day laboratory efficiency. The PAL System Gold Smart Syringe is designed for GC injections on the PAL3 platform and uses a gold plunger for chemical inertness and longer lifetime. CTC said the syringe also includes an exchangeable tapered needle to reduce breakage and lower costs, while an integrated chip provides traceability by logging identity, volume, and usage history.

The company’s PAL Method Composer 2.x extends that emphasis on usability, offering web and desktop interfaces that let users build, modify, share, or import analytical methods without programming skills.

Hamamatsu Photonics

Hamamatsu Photonics brought a spectroscopy-focused release with its WS Series Mini-Spectrometers. The company describes the new instruments as compact, lightweight systems for UV to NIR spectroscopy, with customizable spectral coverage and resolution. For analytical laboratories working with optical methods, the launch points to continued demand for smaller, more flexible spectrometers that can slot into modern workflows without sacrificing performance.

Malvern Panalytical

Malvern Panalytical’s presence in this roundup leans more toward characterization support than a single show-floor instrument splash, but it still reflects issues that matter across analytical labs. The company highlighted the ChemiSorb Auto for catalyst development and quality control, framing reliable measurement of active surface sites and catalytic properties as essential to controlling performance, variability, and process cost.

It also drew attention to the importance of choosing the right particle sizing technique, noting the impact of particle size on dissolution rate, stability, color, texture, flowability, product quality, and regulatory compliance.

BINDER

BINDER’s contribution centered on regulated testing environments. Its modular photostability test chambers are designed for ICH-compliant testing in accordance with ICH Q1B, combining environmental simulation with a modular format that lets labs adapt systems to different requirements. The concept pairs a standard unit with an ICH light module, creating a setup that can be expanded, converted, and redeployed for different applications over time.

For labs balancing compliance with flexibility, that modularity is the central message.

Oxford Instruments

Oxford Instruments rounded out the list with a launch aimed at high-containment settings. The new BC43 Confocal Microscope is designed for BSL-2+, BSL-3, and BSL-4 laboratories, combining reproducible imaging with validated fumigation and decontamination workflows. While this release sits somewhat outside the core separation science lane, it still reflects a wider trend at analytica 2026 toward instruments tailored for demanding, highly regulated environments.
