Cytek Biosciences will showcase its new spectral flow cytometry technologies at CYTO 2026, including the public debut of the 7-laser Cytek Borealis full spectrum flow cytometer and automation-ready configurations of the Cytek Aurora Evo system.
The Cytek Borealis system integrates full spectrum flow cytometry with future cellular imaging capabilities in a single platform. The system, available through an Early Access Program, includes 120 detectors: 110 fluorescence detectors and 10 scatter detectors.
The platform spans seven laser lines, including newly added Deep Ultraviolet and Infrared lasers. Cytek reports that these optical capabilities enable high-resolution 60-color panels, with potential to go beyond. The company has also developed DUV and IR cFluor reagents optimized for the system. These dyes are available through the Early Access Program for custom panel design and evaluation, with broader commercial availability planned.
Cytek notes that the Borealis system builds on its high-parameter cytometry expertise and future imaging capabilities acquired through its Luminex ImageStream assets. The company designed the system to combine imaging and spectral detection to support a more complete view of cellular behavior and structure.
Cytek will also highlight new configurations of the Cytek Aurora Evo platform with automation and throughput enhancements. The updates aim to support integration of full spectrum flow cytometry into automated environments, add scalability, and reduce manual involvement.
The new configurations build on existing Aurora Evo automation features, including increased flow rates and automated startup and shutdown. Cytek is adding new hardware features and software API integrations, enabling scientists to connect full spectrum workflows to robotic plate handling systems and third-party scheduling platforms.
The company identifies biopharma organizations and contract research organizations as key users for these capabilities, where efficiency, reproducibility, and system integration support large-scale studies.
