mzio GmbH has received two grants to support growth and new product development ahead of the 74th annual ASMS Conference.
At ASMS 2026, the Bremen, Germany-based biotech software company will launch FAIR-MS, an initiative focused on AI-based software for comparative analysis and reuse of historical mass spectrometry data. The project received €150,000 from the Bremer Aufbau-Bank under the Promotion of Research, Development and Innovation program, co-financed by the European Union through the EFRE-Bremen 2021–2027 fund.
FAIR-MS will enable automatic comparison against large archived mass spectrometry datasets, regardless of instrument, laboratory, or measurement conditions. The technology will support LC-MS and GC-MS, with the aim of accelerating compound identification, reducing manual curation, and improving chemical annotation.

mzio will also release major updates to mzmine, its vendor-agnostic mass spectrometry data solution. The updates include expanded vendor formats, dedicated lipid and small molecule dashboards, and a new impurity analysis workflow that correlates orthogonal detectors with MS data.
The company works with vendors including SCIEX, Waters, Agilent, Bruker, and others on industry-agnostic solutions, and will showcase its latest integrations at ASMS 2026.
mzio also received €217,758 under the Central Innovation Programme for SMEs of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy for the LIMMIC project, short for Liquid Chromatography Ion Mobility Mass Spectrometry Imaging Calibration. The Swedish-German R&D cooperation includes Polymer Factory Sweden AB, mzio GmbH, and CeMOS at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Mannheim.
LIMMIC aims to deliver a universal and standardized calibration approach for LC-MS, ion mobility spectrometry, and MS imaging, supported by integrative data processing software. The workflow aims to improve comparability, reproducibility, and reliability in multidimensional MS measurements, particularly for small metabolites below 300 Da.
Within LIMMIC, mzio will develop modular calibration software for multidimensional MS and lipidomics workflows. The team will integrate calibration modules into mzmine for retention time, m/z, and ion mobility/CCS dimensions, and improve annotation capabilities for oxidized lipids.

mzio will present three scientific posters at ASMS 2026 covering untargeted LC-MS data, LC-TIMS-MS dereplication through deep learning molecular networking, and DDA and DIA lipidomics comparison. The mzio team will demonstrate new mzmine features at booth #608.
