Plasmidsaurus Expands RNA-Seq Capabilities with EU Hub and Ambient Shipping Solution

Plasmidsaurus has introduced two developments aimed at improving RNA-Seq workflows: a high-capacity sequencing hub in Cologne, Germany, and a new RNA preservation solution developed with Genovis. These updates target faster turnaround times and simplified sample logistics.

EU Expansion Targets Faster, Localized RNA-Seq

The company has added RNA-Seq services to its Cologne facility, strengthening its European infrastructure. This expansion builds on its existing operations in the United Kingdom and brings sequencing capabilities closer to researchers across the European Union.

Processing samples within the EU reduces transit distances and lowers associated carbon emissions. Researchers can access Plasmidsaurus dropboxes and a regional pipeline that supports a three-day turnaround time from sample submission to data delivery.

The company positions this move as part of a broader effort to create a localized and sustainable service model while removing delays linked to cross-border logistics.

Ambient Shipping Removes Dry Ice Constraints

In parallel, Plasmidsaurus has partnered with Genovis to launch SEQguard™ Dino Preserve, an RNA stabilization solution designed for ambient shipping. The product integrates into existing RNA-Seq workflows and enables transport of purified RNA samples without dry ice.

SEQguard™ Dino Preserve maintains RNA integrity across a wide temperature range and tolerates freeze–thaw cycles. This allows consistent sample stability during transport and storage at room temperature (15–30°C).

The solution also addresses longstanding challenges tied to dry ice shipping, including cost, packaging requirements, and environmental impact. A single 150 μl vial stabilizes up to 24 purified RNA samples, supporting efficient sample handling.

Key characteristics include synthetic composition to reduce variability, thermostable protection, and energy-efficient storage and transport conditions.

Integrated Workflow Focus

Both developments align with Plasmidsaurus’s goal of creating a more streamlined RNA-Seq process. The company aims to reduce friction across sample preparation, shipping, and sequencing to accelerate access to gene expression data.
