Restek Introduces Three-Standard Solution for Furan and Alkylfurans Analysis

Food testing laboratories analyzing furan and alkylfurans need accurate certified reference materials, dependable GC columns, and optimized chromatography to support testing for these compounds.

Restek has introduced three multicomponent certified reference material mixes for furan and alkylfurans analysis. The company manufactures and QC-tests the mixes in its ISO-accredited laboratories.

The three ampuls include all native and labeled compounds listed by AOAC SMPR 2019.004 and Commission Recommendation (EU) 2022/495.

The offering includes a Furan/Alkylfurans Standard, Labeled Furan/Alkylfurans Standard Mix 1, and Labeled Furan/Alkylfurans Standard Mix 2. Together, the mixes cover furan, 2-methylfuran, 3-methylfuran, 2,5-dimethylfuran, 2-ethylfuran, 2-butylfuran, 2-pentylfuran, and 2,3-dimethylfuran. They also include labeled compounds such as furan-d4, 2-methylfuran-d3, 3-methylfuran-d3, 2,5-dimethylfuran-d6, 2-ethylfuran-d5, 2-butylfuran-d9, and 2-pentylfuran-d11.

By combining the listed furan and alkylfurans compounds into three ampuls, Restek aims to reduce preparation complexity for laboratories. The format can help minimize errors, save time, and reduce costs, especially for labs using isotope dilution.

Each mix has a concentration of 100 μg/mL, giving laboratories flexibility when creating working standards.
