Light Hydrocarbons on the Agilent Intuvo 9000 GC with a Gas Sampling Valve
This application note describes a method for analysis of a standard hydrocarbon gas mixture with an Agilent Intuvo 9000 GC. The system featured a gas sampling valve, a postcolumn D1/D2 detector splitter chip, and detection by flame ionization (FID) and thermal conductivity (TCD). Results were comparable, in terms of retention time and peak response, for both detectors in the flowpath.
Analysis of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons in Environmental Samples Using Ultra-Fast Gas Chromatography
An ultra-fast gas chromatography (UFGC) method was developed for the determination of total petroleum hydrocarbons in environmental samples. A three-minute analysis time was achieved by using a short, thin film capillary column, fast column heating ramps, and high carrier gas flows. This method was demonstrated to meet all performance criteria outlined by the ISO 16703 method.
Ultrafast Simulated Distillation of Middle Distillates Using ASTM Method D7798 on the Agilent Intuvo Gas Chromatograph
ASTM method D7798 is designed to provide middle-distillate boiling range distribution data in less than three minutes using techniques of ultrafast gas chromatography. This method was implemented on the Agilent Intuvo 9000 GC with its unique direct heating column oven and precise column flows. These attributes provided the high degree of retention time precision needed for this method without the need for postrun manipulation of the data.
Fast Analysis of 18 Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs) Using the Agilent Intuvo 9000 GC Dual ECD
This application note describes polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) analysis based on electron capture detector (ECD) detection and dual-column confirmation approach on the Agilent Intuvo 9000 GC. The Agilent Method Translator tool easily and effectively translated an original China HJ method based on 320 μm columns and N2 as carrier gas to a fast method based on 180 μm columns and H2 as carrier gas.
