This on-demand talk will review applications of Raman spectroscopy in the pharmaceutical industry. The most common application of Raman spectroscopy is raw material identification. We will discuss the benefits, advantages as well as the limitations of Raman spectroscopy for raw material identification and finished product verification.

A second application of Raman spectroscopy that we will discuss is quantitative prediction, in particular the quantitative prediction of drug content in medical devices.

Accurate quantitative models with Raman spectra often require the use of chemometric or multivariate statistical methods. The application of (spatially resolved) confocal Raman microscopy to drug eluding coronary stents will be discussed in detail.
